The National analyse on medicate Use and Health from the US Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) open that nonmedical use of prescription drugs among young adults increased from 5.4% in 2002 to 6.4% in 2006.

Parents in particular need to be aware of this problem and take steps to prevent these medications from falling into the wrong hands," SAMHSA administrator Terry Cline. PhD said in a statement.
On the upside the analyse also showed a change state in current illicit medicate use among the nation's adolescents. The evaluate of adolescents aged 12 to 17 years acknowledging illicit drug use in the past month dropped from 11.6% in 2002 to 9.8% in 2006.

"medicate use is a terrible draw on our society and our economy. Outdated notions casting medicate use as 'recreational' or a 'lifestyle' choice undergo resulted in generations of persistent and ruinous drug use. But we experience that this is a problem that can be made smaller. Fewer teens using drugs today means fewer Americans suffering destructive consequences tomorrow," said color House drug hold back policy director John P. Walters.
